Hey Maggie, very interesting response. I like that you bring up iconography, as it kind of contrasts not only Near Eastern Christians but also Western Christians as well. With you being surrounded by icons growing up, I would assume that you were raised Catholic. I was raised in a Protestant denomination (Lutheran tradition) and icons were largely absent and mainly frowned upon. It is interesting to see that the idea of how our faith is represented in the actual, real world has become such a point of contention among Christian denominations, Near East and West.
