It is crucial for Christians to remember the painful history of Christian antisemitism when addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict today. This awareness of the past helps to humanize the situation and promote empathy and understanding of the current conflict before choosing sides so easily. However, I also think it’s important to not let our ancestor’s past sins control our current actions. Thus, I believe as Christians we need to final a middle ground between supporting an Israeli state, yet also acknowledging the historical and current impact of this conflict on the Palestinians. I think a compassionate and fair approach ensures that a response that is focused on building bridges rather than deepening divisions among different communities.
