Titus, great synopsis of the ascendancies. I was somewhat well-versed in recent Lebanese history; however, I did not realize the impact that the PLO had on the country in the late 20th century. I’m glad to see that you included them in your synopsis. They were definitely a contributing factor the Sunni and later the Shia ascendancies. The story of the PLO adds to the web of interconnectedness in the Near East. If Jordan and the rest of the Arab world had a better solution for the PLO after their Jordanian ouster, perhaps Lebanon would look different today.
