It is important for Christians to keep the sad history of Christian antisemitism in mind when responding to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the present because it is the very thing that spurred on the Zionist movement. No Zionist movement, no Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While there were Zionists who held their beliefs for reasons other than Christian antisemitism, ultimately the Zionist movement would not have gained sufficient traction without the constant Christian antisemitism that plagued much of Europe. It would be irresponsible and ignorant for any Christian to response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without recognizing the transgressions of Christian antisemitism. When thinking about where Christians fit in the conflict, it is key that we recognize how both sides feel about Christians, and there is no doubt that Christian antisemitism has shaped the Zionist outlook, even if many Christians in the present day have become ardent supporters of Israel. It is important that we as Christians learn from history and approach the conflict with nothing but the truth.
