Reply To: Have you ever been told that supporting Israel prevents you from supporting Palestinians? After taking this course, how would you go about responding to false accusations like this?

I have heard not only that supporting Israel prevents supporting Palestine, but that supporting Israel is actively harmful to Palestine and, further, as a Christian, if I were to voice any form of support for Palestine was practically heretical, as my loyalties must lie solely towards Israel. After taking this course, I realize what a narrow-minded view those statements take. Supporting an Israeli state does not have to diminish the needs and desires of Palestinians. Discouraging antisemitism does not mean encouraging Palestinian hate. And as a Christian, it is not my duty to solely love and support the Jews – I am called to love all people of every tribe and tongue on this earth while furthering the Kingdom of God. Thus, promoting and supporting a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that both respects the necessity of a Jewish state while creating structure and borders for Palestinians would support of *both* sides of this conflict. They do not have to be at odds.
