Three tangible ways to improve my relationship with Christians from other traditions is: 1. Explaining my beliefs, without getting offended. As a Roman Catholic, sometimes I find some of our traditions might be off-putting or strange to other Christian traditions and when they question me I feel a bit offended by their assumptions of what they believe Catholicism is. I need to be more open to have discussion about the way we practice our Christian faith. 2. I need to engage in more conversations about what unites us as Christians. Often times, I find myself in conversation with other denominations about that makes us different, but we need to have more conversations about what unites us. 3. Often times, when engaging with other Christian denominations I have felt like they want to “convert me”, I need to be more vocal about my beliefs and explain to them that although our differences in the way we practice Christianity might look different, I am a Christian. There shouldn’t be a goal to convert one another to another practice, we all believe in Jesus, and we need to respect each other and be able to unite in what makes us similar.
