Great point Aarin – lots of church hurt that is applicable here. It’s a fine line between parents raising a child up in the way they should go, as opposed to an abusive or coercive legalism hyper-focused on external factors. I’ve also known so many who have lost sight of Jesus’ ethos, even in their own homes. It’s not about failing to raise kids with appropriate guardrails, but losing sight of what is really important: the precious heart of another human being in front of you. That’s what the gospel is focused on, every time.
