I was never taught that the Old Testament and New Testament gods were different gods but the real question was how to interpret them in light of each other. Hermeneutics and remaining faithful according to the historic witness of Scripture. This is, of course, a challenge that every Christian faces no matter the time in history in which they live. Biblical orthodoxy matters and being watchful for false teaching and deception is something to which the Christian is called to do. God gives grace for the journey. As it pertains to the Jews, the question is more about how to present the Gospel to them given the painful history and the complicated problems that continue to plague the Middle East.
