The news media is indeed at the root of so many problems. The polarization of everything has inhibited people from seeing the truth in its full complexity and as a result. Part of the problem, I think, is the lack of critical thinking skills. People don’t read much anymore, they watch the screen. Attention spans have decreased dramatically. This contributes to further divides and inhibits the ability of Americans to think about complicated problems, of which the Middle East has no shortage, with nuance and thoughtfulness.
