Once I returned home from Israel, I shared a post on my story sharing my support for the state of Israel, and, I was messaged by two of my friends who are Palestinian, claiming that I do not support them or their families if I supported the Jewish people’s right to a safe and, secure home. At that point, I was just so new to the conflict that I was unsure how to respond to this statement. Although I knew in my heart that I had nothing but love for both sides. Taking this course did open up my eyes to the subconscious bias and ties that I have to lean more towards the right of the Jewish state. If someone were to ask me before why I supported Israel, I don’t believe I would have given them a straight-up answer. However, if someone were to ask me today, I could tell them Yes, I support the right for the Jewish people’s claim to Israel because of the long history my God and faith have with the Jewish people, but that does not mean that I don’t also support and love the Palestinians and their right to be safe and have a land they can prosper in.
