Hi Anna! I agree that reading larger chunks of scripture is a good way to increase one’s Biblical literacy. I also think thematic studies that span both the Old and New Testaments do a great job at reinforcing the overarching message of the Bible. When reading the New Testament, I refer to a big book by NT Wright called “The New Testament in its World” which sets the “scene” well so that the verses I read are better placed/I understand the message’s more comprehensive nature. As I gear up to lead another group of high school girls through my church, I’ll encourage them to not lose sight of the big picture, but to also let themselves get caught up in the details.
