Your response to this question closely mirrors my own. There are clear and significant theological similarities between Islam and Christianity that we can use to facilitate dialogue and evangelism. As important, we share ethical beliefs that ought to make us political allies against “hedonism,” as you aptly put it. I had a Muslim friend in college whose political beliefs closely mirrored my own on social issues; it was only when we got to foreign policy that the disagreements began.
