As someone who has long thought the plight of the Palestinians warrants the international concern it receives, every time I am exposed to this type of story, I cannot help but think of how this negatively impacts their cause.
Of course, such thinking ought be secondary to the moral imperative in standing up against such bigotry. Additionally, there are many other troublesome connotations many people think of when considering the Palestinian cause.
But I also think it is worth pointing out that for many people who genuinely advocate on behalf of the Palestinians (whether people agree with them or not on some of the specifics) those who evoke such bigoted tropes are one of their greatest hindrances.
