Thank you so much for your post. I really enjoyed reading about how you noticed, like me, the course’s illustration of the cultural diversity within Syria. It is incredible how Syria and the rest of the Middle East are described by Western sources as being non-diverse and inherently Islamic despite a few of the countries appointing Eastern Christians in high-government positions. It is almost like, in the eyes of the West and Western news, diversity is without conflict while homogeneity is supposed to be full of conflict.
