Reply To: In the first lecture, Dr. McDermott teaches that the Bible is one story, and that God upholds his covenant with the Jewish people to this very day. Was this what you were taught growing up? If not, how will this insight change the way you read the bible going forward?

Hi Christina,

I agree that learning about how other faiths interpret the same text regarded as scripture to Christians more deepens one’s understanding of the Christian faith rather than it does challenge it. In fact, the more I study this type of interfaith dialogue, the more abundantly clear to it is to me that Christianity is not intended to be a “replacement theology.” Neither the teachings ascribed to Jesus or to Paul, when understood properly, suggest such a thing.
