I like how you word it where you say “(We should)…focus on God’s word to see who He is and how His presence in creation requires us to lead and treat others..”. Perhaps my beliefs are unorthodox, but as I understand it, the Gospels make the Hebraic map simpler to follow.
The Word (or Logos) becoming flesh being more of a realization of what is described in the Biblical texts preceding it then a departure from it, that the righteousness that comes by faith (in this case, the Christian faith) is made as it is through the Gospel is nonetheless “Hebraic” (to use the wording of the lesson) because of it.
