“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.” Revelation 2:5
Jesus spoke the words above to the church in Ephesus, but I really think that we should obey them today in regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Obey in the sense that we can’t pretend that anything happened, we must remember and carry this memory within us so we have humility engaging in an empathetic way on these matters.
We need to repent and not just feel sorry, but teshuva, return from our wicked ways and ideas. We need to embrace God’s mind towards this conflict and engage in doing the works of our forefathers, the apostles, and Jesus himself, acting guided by love and justice from above.
It is important to keep the sad history of Christian antisemitism in mind because there would be no Israeli-Palestinian conflict without this sad history.
