Reply To: Are there elements of ancient and/or modern Near Eastern Christianity that are present in your own church/faith life? If so, what are they? If not, would you be open to implementing any?

After taking this course, I can say that there is nothing really that my church does that other churches in the near east uses. I learned a lot about the many elements the Near Eastern Christians and I thought that there is something that they do that diverts them from growing closer to God. Such examples that I thought about was the Virgin Mary in which they pray to her and I thought that they were literally worshiping them. I grew up in a southern baptist church, and we don’t have artwork, icons, or relics hanging in our sanctuary to aid in worship. I wished that we could possibly use incense or any scents to aid in worship to help me really get deeper in my faith and be able to think of the place as holy. I think that it is interesting that the southern baptist church does not have any artwork or anything like that at all.
