Yes, I try to use my faith to examine every aspect of reality. I believe Christ is King over the whole universe, and that my Christian faith ought to affect every aspect of my life. Even though the United States is not an “officially” Christian country, I believe that my country’s true interests are aligned in every way with the true interests of the City of God. This is not to say that I believe the Kingdom’s interests are subordinate to the country’s interests, but rather that (as Augustine would say) the desire of every heart is peace, and that peace can be found only in the Kingdom where Christ reigns. That is why Jeremiah tells us to pursue the good of the city we find ourselves in — ultimately, the good of every city is the Kingship of Christ.
