It is very important to keep the sad history of Christian antisemitism in mind when responding to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because we do not want to recreate history. There is a saying that says, “History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme”. We have become hateful people in the past towards the Jewish and Muslim people in Europe. This hatred was established in the orientalism scholarship era and we overlook how the Jewish people have contributed to Oriental studies and the Christians continue to hate it. When we compare the past to the present, the Muslim people were more accepting towards the Jewish people and the Christians were hateful towards the Jewish people. The role has now reversed and it is the Muslim people who hate on the Jewish people and the Christians have become accepting towards the Jewish people. We must be reminded that the Jewish people are people and that we can view the same way towards the Muslim people. We must become examples of a new type of people which is a group of people who loves their neighbors.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
