Reply To: In Lecture 2, Dr. Dru Johnson mentions that there has been a decline in biblical literacy in the Church. After taking this course, what are some recommendations you would give to church leadership to increase biblical literacy?

Hi Griffin, I too wrote about the importance of community when it comes to Biblical literacy. We were not meant to live life alone or read scripture alone. Creating groups to read and discuss in are great ways to create community and accountability. Christians do not view biblical literacy as important as they do acceptance of Jesus. After people accept Jesus, biblical literacy is not a priority in assimilating a new Christian. Personally, I don’t think I completely understood who Jesus was and why he came to earth until I read the old testament and had a better understanding of the story of the Jewish people.
