I found it interesting how much influence the Ottomans had on Syria. I especially found it interesting that Ottomans implemented the Millet System allowing confessional communities to rule themselves according to their laws. This unquestionably contributed to the long lasting presence of these people groups in the country. A people group are nothing without its traditions and belief systems. Therefore, after all the people immigrated to Syria like the Jews, Christians, and Muslims their rich history was sustainable under Ottoman control.
